Session: Knowledge Representation

Over the past year, an international consortium of intellectual property rights holders from print, soundf, and image industries (INDECS), has been collaborating in the construction of a shared representation of works, agreements governing their use, and agents representing the creators adn users. INDECS has cooperated with the Dublin Core initiative to ensure that the two knowledge models are compatible and their expressions can be linked using common rules for XML/RDF expression. This linking of heritage representations and property rights is a crucial advance for the cultural informatics community since it will bring future cultural heritage representation into the domain of known resources rapidly and provide mechanisms for their use in multimedia. The speaker, Godfrey Rust, has coordinated the modeling and will explain the basic mosel and how other cultural heritage informatics knowledge models can interconnect with it.
