Joan C. Nordbotten is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Information Science, University of Bergen, Bergen, Norway and at the Department of Information and Computer Science, University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu, USA. Her main interest areas are multi-database management, data modeling, multimedia management, human-computer interface evaluation, interactive learning environments, and Web-applications for libraries and museums. She became actively interested in museum applications in 1995 as head of a project to design a PC-based exhibit for presentation of Social Science projects for the University of Bergen. This exhibit is currently on the Web at http://nordbotten.com/museum. The project led to a number or papers, one of which was presented at MW2000, http://www.archimuse.com/mw2000/abstracts/prg_75000196.html. She is currently head of a project for development of ICT tools to assist with the design of Virtual Exhibits. Nordbotten has actively participated in the Museums and the Web conferences since 2000.
