Close-Up: NLM Tour - PM

Patricia Tuohy who heads the Exhibition Program at the National Library of Medicine, Jiwon Kim, the exhibition educator, and Kevin Schlesier, exhibition coordinator will provide a tour of the new exhibition "Changing the Face of Medicine: Celebrating America's Women Physicians". The exhibition uses a combination of technologies to present more than 40 narrative biographies; 5 fun, fast artifact enhancements; and a room-size interactive presentation of the more than 300 hundred women featured in the project.

Discussions will focus on how technology allowed the Library to present an overwhelming amount of information in a variety of formats for the many different visitors who see the show--young people, students and teachers, families, medical professionals, scholars, and senior government administrators. Talks will highlight how the website features lesson plans for the school room, games with a science focus, and a multimedia encyclopedia of biographical information for the featured physicians.
