William Paine Bill Paine became interested in information technology and computers during the 1980’s when working in retail. In 1990, he went back to school, earning a baccalaureate degree in computer and information sciences from the University of Florida in 1994. While still in school, Paine was employed by the Florida Museum of Natural History as a database developer. After graduation, he acquired a full-time position there, where he currently heads its seven-member IT department, as well as serving as the lead database developer. During the past five years, Paine has developed many custom database applications for use by various museum groups as well as placing more than 25 databases on the museum’s web site (http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/) and Intranet site, many of them searchable and modifiable. When not working on IT projects, Paine enjoys playing traditional music on the mandolin and guitar as well as cooking and dancing with his lovely wife.
