Riikka Haapalainen, researcher, has BA in Adult Education and is currently finishing her MA in Art History at the University of Helsinki. Since 1996 she has worked at the Finnish National Gallery's Education Department (currently Art Museum Development Department KEHYS) in various projects. Among others, she takes part in planning, editing and developing the FNG's Internet pages. Recently, she has been focusing more on creating pedagogical and accessible artistic content for the multimedia. Haapalainen has among others been responsible for a joint project with Celia, the Finnish Library for the Visually Impaired, which realized the first on-line art exhibition designed especially for the visually impaired (See, Hear, Imagine. {HYPERLINK"http://www.fng.fi/hugo.htm"}http://www.fng.fi/hugo.htm. She is also in charge for the concept planning and realization of the Ateneum Art Museum's new multimedia program (In Touch with the Ateneum, 2001), which took special attention for the accessibility issues both in its content and technical solutions. She has also been conducting the FNG's visitor studies. Haapalainen has given several presentations in international conferences dealing with the artistic content in multimedia. She writes actively about art and visual culture; her weekly art reviews are published in national newspaper Iltalehti.
