She is also in charge for the concept planning and realization of the Ateneum Art Museum's new multimedia program (In Touch with the Ateneum, 2001), which took special attention for the accessibility issues both in its content and technical solutions. She has also been conducting the FNG's visitor studies. Haapalainen has given several presentations in international conferences dealing with the artistic content in multimedia. She writes actively about art and visual culture; her weekly art reviews are published in national newspaper Iltalehti.
