Workshop: e-learning

In this workshop, we look at e-learning and how it can be used educate museum visitors, interested people who are unable to visit, and museum employees. We cover how to plan, design, and deliver e-learning, along with the selection, deployment, and use of e-learning technologies. Categories of technologies and specific products within each category will be covered, along with an examination of their benefits and problems and the factors that influence appropriate selection and deployment. We examine what makes an e-learning class effective and what is easy, hard, and different about preparing, delivering, and supporting e-learning courses compared to face-to-face. Case studies will illustrate the use of e-learning technologies and the broad range of situations in which distance learning is employed. The instructor will discuss best practices and lessons learned based on her experiences.
