Johan Oomen is head of the NISV R&D department (7 FTE). He is mainly working on externally funded research projects. Since June 2007, he joined the Images for the Future project team. He is part of the research groups of national and international research projects. He holds a BA in Information Science and an MA in Media Studies. He is member of the Webstroom expert group funded by the SURF Foundation, on the use of streaming media in higher education and general secretary of the DIVERSE network. Johan Oomen has also worked for the British Universities Film and Video Council and the Holland Media Group. He has given papers at leading conferences and published several articles in journals, including Ariadne, Innovate and Informatie Professional. His book Internet en het Nieuwe Leren: de toepassing van streaming media was published recently.
