Thomas is one of Australia’s internet pioneers. He has been involved in the production of high-end media Web sites from the very beginning of the Web. Thomas established multimedia company Ether in 1994, and did early Web design and consulting work for clients such as The Sydney Morning Herald, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Optus Communications, The British Council (Australia), Macquarie Bank, AMP, The Powerhouse Museum and John Singleton Advertising. Thomas oversaw the early development of the ABC’s online presence as the network's Creative Director, and developed systems to automate the production of the its internet programs. He has devised and taught postgrad courses in Web design for the University of Technology, Sydney. In recent years Thomas has specialised in developing broadband rich-media websites (including Australian Screen, Australian Biography Online, and The Pure Drop).
