Devyn Dennison is a student at New Mexico Highlands University, she will be graduating this coming Spring 2010 and receiving her Bachelors in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Multimedia. In the spring 2009, Devyn was selected to participate in the Media Arts Department’s Cultural Technology program called PicT. In the program, students helped collaborate ideas for the exhibition Fashioning New Mexico museum in Santa Fe, NM. In summer 2009, Devyn was assigned an internship on the Navajo Nation reservation, inCrownpoint, New Mexico. The organization of Crownpoint Historical and Cultural HeritageCouncil (CHCHC) wanted to celebrate their 100 year of culture in the Crownpoint area.Therefore, Devyn being from the nearby community of Tohatchi, New Mexico, came up with the idea of making an exhibition called Indian Rodeo on the Navajo Nation. The exhibition has three different focus which are: The Sacred Horse: Navajo Prospective; Ranching Navajo Cowboys & Cowgirl; and the last section of Three Generation: Contemporary Indian Rodeo. She prepared a twenty-three minute video focusing on the traditional values of the Navajo People onthe Navajo Nation and how those values correlates back to the life of Navajo rodeo athletes. The exhibition will be opening in the summer of 2010, which will be the 100th year of celebration ofIndian Rodeo on the Navajo Nation for the Crownpoint community. Devyn also built a website for promotional purposes and to make the exhibition Indian Rodeo on the Navajo Nation a life ofits own, since in the Navajo Culture it is primate that lifelong learning is an essential. After graduation, Devyn plans to attend Graduate school at Arizona State University to pursue a Masters in Design (Visual Communication Design).
