Working Meetings on Electronic Records Research

1997 Pittsburgh

An invitational meeting for fifty researchers (25 US and 25 from around the world) to explore the state of current research in detail and workshop each others approaches. All participants were engaged in the workshops and had opportunities to present their own work. Participants contributed to, and received, full sets of the latest working papers and findings from each others projects.

The three very full days of activities including ten workshops directed by leading researchers, designed to clarify problem areas and examine alternative approaches in detail. Workshop reporters identified areas of consensus for the group which will become action items for the closing sessions.

1994 Pittsburgh

The 1997 meeting builds upon the discussions of a similar workshop held in 1994, reported in a special issue of Archives and Museum Informatics (Vol. 8, no. 4, 1994).

Informatics: The interdisciplinary study of information content, representation, technology, and applications,
and the methods and strategies by which information is used in organizations, networks, cultures, and societies.
